I worked at the Gala, loading the PA….I took GBH down to the Brown Derby before the gig. The drummer had a brand new drum kit. While he was in the loo they hatched a plot to raise the kit at the end of the gig.

We got back to the Gala and the bouncers wouldn’t let them in. They said they weren’t the band and only on inspection of the poster did they concede.

The gig was awesome. At the end, as planned, the kit went up in the air. The drummer lept over the kit in midair and got hold of the singer and a fight took place.

The bouncers came running down only to see it was the band. Never seen a bunch of confused guys in my life.

It didn’t mean the end of the band as I believe they are still about today.

Oh I believe this was in 1983 (I stand to be corrected).
